Since her graduation in 2000, she has worked as a freelance dancer with various choreographers / directors and dance groups performing contemporary dance, dance theatre and contemporary Butoh nationally and internationally.
She studied MSc Dance Science at Laban in 2003 and has published two articles in relation to the dancers’ psychological health in Dance Health Finland .
In 2004 she moved to Wales and began lecturing on the Ba Hons Dance degree at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.
In 2005, whilst on tour with a solo performance - Kaiho - she met John Collingswood (dbini industries) - an artist/dj/film-maker and sound designer - and they began working together developing a new piece as part of Welsh Independent Dance's Dance Bytes programme. Since then, the majority of her choreographic work has been produced in collaboration with John - who provides soundscapes, lighting design, integrated video and technical support. Together they have performed work in the Royal Opera House and the Royal Festival Hall, the Place Prize 2006, British Dance Edition 2008 and in venues throughout Wales.
Tanja Råman+dbini industries are dedicated to advancing the integration and interraction of movement and sound through producing new work and developing integrated workshop methods.
In 2007, Tanja received a Creative Wales award from the Arts Council of Wales, enabling her to embark on a 12-month research project exploring elements of dynamic movement as a form of choreographic expression.
